Lock Content
At times, the teacher may want to restrict access to an assignment without erasing grades or work, for example, to an incomplete assessment after students leave class. Any lesson element can be locked for these purposes. Once locked, an assignment cannot be accessed until it is unlocked by the teacher.
The lock feature is located in the three-dot drop-down for each lesson element. Click Lock and a red “lock” icon will appear next to the lesson element. Click on the red “lock” to unlock the lesson element.
Pin Content
In order to make a lesson element easy to find for students, consider bringing it to the top of the course with the Pin feature. Once pinned, an enabled lesson element will also show up at the top of the class page for both the teacher and their students. Multiple assignments can be pinned at one time.
The pin feature is located in the three-dot drop-down for each lesson element. Click Pin and a black “pin” icon will appear next to the lesson element. Scroll to the top of the page and see the resource under the “Pinned Content” section in addition to its original location. Click on the black “pin” at any time to unpin the lesson element. This feature is meant for the temporary placement of lesson elements. Pinning more than five lesson elements at a time is discouraged.
Push To Students
A teacher may want to centralize student attention or help students who are having trouble locating an assignment, by pushing content to assigned students. Much like a push notification on a smartphone, "pushing" a lesson element will generate a pop-up message on student screens, notifying them that they should navigate to a specific lesson element and giving them a button to access it.
If the lesson element isn't yet enabled, the Push to Students action will enable to assignment and push it out to all students.
