Enable and Disable Content

In BusinessU, the teacher is always in control. Inside each lesson there is a list of lesson elements. Notice the red “x” toggle to the right of each lesson element. This indicates that the content is not yet available to students. Everything in a class is disabled by default. There are four ways to manage access for students:

  1. Enable: Click the red “x” toggle to enable the assignment. A green “check” will appear, confirming all students in the class have access to this lesson element.

  2. Enable for some students: It is common not to want every student to have access to an assignment. To enable content for select students, click the three dots next to any lesson element to reveal a drop-down menu of options. Hover over Enable for… then click Some students…. A list of students will appear. Select the students to have access and click Submit.

  3. Enable All/Disable All: Instead of going one at a time, there are cases where a teacher may want to enable/disable everything in a lesson at once. Click the three dots to the right of the lesson name to reveal options for Enable All and Disable All.

  4. Disable: Click the green “check” toggle to disable the assignment. See a red “x” confirming students no longer have access to the assignment. If the assignment has student grades associated with it, a pop-up will remind the teacher they are about to remove the assignment from the gradebook. All work and grades will be returned to the grade book once the assignment is enabled again.

Schedule Content

Instead of making content available immediately, the teacher can Schedule any assignment to open at a later date and time. To schedule, click the three dots to the right of the assignment and select Schedule. A popup will appear for selecting a day & time. Finalize the action by clicking Schedule. The assignment toggle will still show a red “x” but a small yellow indicator with the scheduled date. Click the indicator at any time to adjust the scheduled time.

The assignment will not be enabled for students until the scheduled time. In the meantime, the teacher can adjust the assignment settings both before and after the assignment goes live.

Note, assignments can be scheduled & synced to an LMS class. Once synced, the assignment will be scheduled to open at the same time in the LMS class.
